The famous performance ‘Swan Lake’ will be performed at the Latvian National Opera in Riga on Wednesday 29th February at 19.00.
For those of you amongst us who are Opera fans, Riga once again throws up a classical performance to the general public.Many visitors are unaware that the capital city of such a small state offers so many cultural events. From Opera to Theater, Classical to Contemporary Music events Riga has something for all.
With ticket prices ranging from 2.50 – 18.00Ls, it offers cheaper seats than most cinemas and with lengthy performances, you got more seat time for your money than many long distance bus trips across Latvia!
The National Opera in Riga has been a site of the Arts since its doors opened in 1863. It was set on fire during the Great Fire of 1882 and renovation took place and completed in 1887. The building today, stands proudly by Riga canal and is a symbol of Riga’s more cultural side.
Close by to the Opera you will see a statue of George Armitstead, his wife and their dog!
