Dad Cafe and Bar on Miera Street
Dad Cafe is one of the first and longest serving members of the Miera Street Republic. The group was formed to create a positive environment for the small, independent and creative spaces along Miera iela (Peace Street) and Dad Cafe qualifies on all three of these counts.
Started by three friends, the cafe has a friendly atmosphere and homemade feeling to it. The tarts and quiches are made in the tiny kitchen behind the bar, as are the soups an salads offered for a light lunch or dinner. Good coffee and stronger drinks are also available.
Located near the beginning of Miera iela (Tram #11 between Brīvības iela and Laima Fabrika stops), Dad Cafe holds improvisation theatre nights, while weekends see live music performances fill the space.
In summer a small number of tables spill out onto the street and you can hope to combine the aroma of your coffee with the fragrant smell coming from the Laima Chocolate factory down the road.
Given the friendly and welcoming nature, it’s no surprise that the cafe attracts a diverse range of clientele, local musicians, students, workers from nearby office and shops all stop by to visit Dad.
